Input Parameter in advance query builder

I am new user for Report Builder and I am trying to check if this tool helps me convert all my old reports in report builder.
My question is, can I pass input parameter(s) to my query in advance query builder? I tried that but whenever I try to do that, my cfm file where I am calling cfr file in <cfreport> hangs. If anyone know if this is possible or any other way around, please let me know.
